The design seeks to create high quality homes centred on a lovely garden.
The houses address the central space which is entered from Cottage Gardens. Parking is arranged to provide minimum visual impact and to leave space for a shared garden. This space is inspired in scale by the stable yards described earlier, indeed it is almost identical in size (25m x 18m) to the yard at Wells House in Gorey. Each house has a private
garden to the rear while the main and northerly houses have a first floor wintergarden that overlooks the shared space providing passive surveillance. Required distances to existing houses are provided at first floor level while existing trees are retained to proved further screening.
MAIN HOUSE DESIGN
The main house has three bedrooms. It will be used primarily by Bridget and Colin who desire a general living area on the first floor. These rooms are all connected to the wintergarden which faces south and west for sunlight and address the fine views to the west. On the ground floor there are two bedrooms which will be used by their family when they visit and may double as small studys or home offices.
NORTH HOUSE DESIGN
The northern houses are similar in ambition to the main house, incorporating a south facing wintergarden while having two bedrooms. the upperfloor connects to the garden to the rear through the half landing of the stair.
SOUTH HOUSE DESIGN
The southern houses are conventional in design with a ground floor living, dining, and kitchen area with two bedrooms above.
